Introduction

Apps for Facebook & Messenger ("MessengerPro", "we", "our", or "us") is a macOS desktop application that provides a native wrapper for Facebook Messenger, allowing users to manage multiple Messenger accounts with an enhanced desktop experience.

This Privacy Policy describes how we handle information in connection with your use of MessengerPro (version 2.0.2). By using our application, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide app functionality. Here is a complete breakdown:

Sign in with Apple

When you choose to authenticate using Sign in with Apple, Apple provides us with:

• Your Apple ID (anonymized or real, per your Apple settings)
• Your email address (real or Apple-relayed private address — your choice)
• Your display name (only if you choose to share it)

This information is used solely to link your premium subscription entitlement to your account and stored locally on your device. It is never transmitted to our servers.

Subscription & Purchase Data

When you purchase a premium subscription or lifetime licence, Apple's in-app purchase system processes the transaction. We store the following locally:

• Subscription status (active, expired, trial)
• Subscription expiry date
• Product identifier (e.g. monthly, annual, lifetime)
• Purchase receipt (for local entitlement verification)

Payment details (card numbers, billing information) are handled entirely by Apple and are never accessible to us.

Messenger Session Data

To support multi-account management, MessengerPro stores the following locally on your device:

• Facebook/Messenger session cookies and tokens per account
• Cached message content (managed by the Chromium BrowserView)
• Account identifiers and display names you add to the app
• Workspace and folder metadata you create

iCloud-Synced Preferences

With your permission, the following lightweight preferences are synced via iCloud Key-Value Store so your settings are consistent across your own devices:

• Theme selection (light / dark / system)
• Sidebar expansion state
• Focus mode on/off state
• Workspace metadata (names and order)

Notifications

MessengerPro displays native macOS notifications for new Messenger messages. These notifications are generated locally by macOS and do not involve any data being sent to external servers.

What We Do NOT Collect

How We Use Your Information

We use the limited information we handle for the following purposes only:

App Functionality

• Authenticating your identity via Sign in with Apple to link your premium entitlement
• Storing multiple Messenger account sessions so you can switch between accounts seamlessly
• Verifying your subscription status to unlock premium features
• Displaying macOS notifications for incoming messages

Preference Synchronisation

• Syncing your theme and UI preferences across your personal Apple devices via iCloud

What We Do NOT Use Your Data For

• Advertising or marketing of any kind
• Profiling or behavioural analysis
• Sale or transfer to third parties
• Training AI or machine-learning models
• Any purpose beyond operating the app

Data Storage & Security

Local Encrypted Storage

All sensitive data (account credentials, subscription status, settings) is stored in an encrypted JSON file protected by macOS Keychain via Electron's safeStorage API. This means:

• Data is encrypted at rest using AES-256 (managed by macOS)
• Only MessengerPro can decrypt and access its own data
• Data cannot be read by other applications on your system

Sandboxed Rendering

Messenger content is displayed inside a sandboxed Chromium BrowserView with context isolation enabled. This means:

• The rendering engine has no access to Electron's Node.js APIs
• Session data for each account is fully isolated — cookies from one account cannot leak into another
• The app cannot inject scripts into or read data from the Messenger web content

iCloud Security

Preferences synced via iCloud are protected by Apple's iCloud encryption and are accessible only from devices signed into your Apple ID. We use a last-write-wins conflict resolution strategy for preference sync and do not store any iCloud data on our own infrastructure.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, lease, or share your personal data with any third party, advertiser, data broker, or commercial partner — ever.

The only scenarios in which data moves outside your device are:

• iCloud sync: Your own preferences are synced to your own Apple iCloud account. Apple processes this under their Privacy Policy.
• Sign in with Apple: Apple authenticates your identity and provides us a token. Apple processes this under their Privacy Policy.
• In-App Purchases: Apple processes all payment transactions. We receive only entitlement confirmation.
• Facebook/Messenger: When you use Messenger through our app, your interactions travel to Facebook's servers under Facebook's Privacy Policy, exactly as they would in a browser.

We have no control over, and are not responsible for, the privacy practices of Apple or Facebook.

Third-Party Services

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data. Because all data is stored locally on your device, most of these rights are exercised directly by you:

Right to Access

You can view all data MessengerPro holds by examining the app's local storage directory in ~/Library/Application Support/MessengerPro/.

Right to Deletion

You can delete all app data at any time by:

• Uninstalling MessengerPro from your Mac
• Deleting the app support folder at ~/Library/Application Support/MessengerPro/
• Removing iCloud-synced preferences in System Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage

Right to Portability

Your data is stored in standard JSON format and is accessible directly on your file system. You may copy or export it at any time.

Right to Correction

You can update your preferences and account details at any time within the app settings.

GDPR (EU/EEA Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including rights of restriction and objection. Because MessengerPro stores data only locally on your device, we act as a data processor in a very limited capacity. For any GDPR-related requests, please contact us at the address below.

CCPA (California Users)

California residents have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). We do not sell personal information. If you have CCPA-related requests, please contact us.

Data Retention & Deletion

Since all data is stored locally, you control retention entirely:

• Session data is retained until you remove an account from the app or uninstall it
• Subscription data is retained while the app is installed to allow entitlement verification
• iCloud preferences are retained until you delete them from iCloud Storage settings
• Sign in with Apple data is retained while the app is installed; you can also revoke app access from Apple ID Settings → Password & Security → Apps Using Your Apple ID

Upon uninstallation and deletion of the app support folder, all locally stored data is permanently removed from your device. We have no copies of your data and cannot recover it after deletion.

Children's Privacy

MessengerPro is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EU under GDPR). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used this application and you have concerns, please contact us and we will assist you in removing the relevant data.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the application or applicable laws. When we make significant changes, we will:

• Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
• Display an in-app notice on first launch after a policy update

We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of MessengerPro after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
